Effective computing strategy demands a professionally planned cabling
infrastructure. Futurtech can project manage large cabling installations,
covering many sites and difficult. We have been offering professional
cabling services to corporations and governmental organisations
for over a decade.
Futurtech has a track record in implementing successful cabling
solutions and offers a comprehensive range of services covering
the entire project life-cycle:
Planning & Design
Futurtech's experienced cabling engineers can provide a comprehensive
on-site survey of your cabling infrastructure
Best-of-Breed Procurement
Upon completion of the site survey, you will receive an evaluation
of your current cabling network along with recommendations and costs
for the proposed solution. Being vendor independent, your solution
will be based on best-of-breed technologies from over 5,000 products
and over 250 vendors.
Installation & Project Management
We can plan, design, implement and test complex cabling solutions
including related projects, such as Duct installation and Computer
Room building. For projects with more diverse requirements, Futurtech
can project manage the entire cabling infrastructure, including
responsibility for sub-contractors.
Support & Maintenance
Whatever your cabling requirements, we offer a range of value added
services including trouble-shooting, maintenance, out-of-hours installations
and installation guarantees.
'Structured cabling' is designed for flexibility - it can be reconfigured
as people move simply by reconnecting flying patch leads, without
moving the backbone cables under the floor. A structured cabling
system should meet or exceed the international standards expected
by the various networking schemes - Ethernet, fast Ethernet and
so on. It should also come with a warranty - typically 15 years
- from the firm that installed it, on behalf of the cable manufacturer.
Technical issues
Category 5e cabling looks much like ordinary phone wiring, but there
are some technical issues that make it not quite as simple to install
as it appears. These include:
Bad installation (pulling cable hard through gaps, bending it tightly
around corners, terminating it incorrectly) can give you a system
that doesn't meet the standards even though it is built from Category
5 components.
Gigabit Ethernet requires cable to meet specifications that weren't
included in the original category 5 standards. Most good category
5 installations will meet these specifications anyway, but this
should be warranted for new installations.
If the installers have to come back to remedy problems, this can
be very disruptive - the cost of the new cable and terminations
is comparatively trivial, so you need more than just a parts warranty.
